Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang
Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang has over 55 years of experience in the martial arts and fitness industries. He has trained over 30,000 students worldwide and awarded over 3,000 black belts including five 8th Dan Masters.

Senior Master Cristina Kang
Senior Master Cristina Kang has been a student of Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang‘s for 45 years. With over 40 years of teaching experience, she is Grandmaster Kang’s longest serving instructor and the first female instructor in the Kang system. She has assisted Grandmaster Kang not only in class development but also in his studio expansion. Despite 6 herniated discs from a car accident, she continues to train and teach one of the hardest classes at the Tribeca location.

Senior Master Bill Ma
Senior Master Bill Ma has trained under Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang for over 40 years. He has competed nationally in tournaments from 1984-1993. Rated top ten in forms competition and in 1990 was ranked top five by the Professional Karate League. Promoted to Sahbumnim in 1988 and was the head instructor of TKT Bensonhurst from 1990-1996. In 2002 earned the title of Master Instructor and is currently the head instructor of TKT Sheepshead Bay.

Master David Tu
Master David Tu is the chief instructor of T. Kang Taekwondo of Canarsie, Brooklyn New York. He started martial arts in the early 80’s. Master David Tu has over 35 years of teaching experience with all ages. He has competed in many national competitions in the late 80’s to the early 90’s and was ranked top 3 in the national circuit. He has a son and daughter who are also black belt instructors.

Master Berthony Pascal
Master Berthony Pascal has over 30 years of experience and is the Master instructor at our Marine Park location. He is the head Coach of the T. Kang tournament team and runs a yearly summer boot camp for children.
Master Pascal has a no-nonsense attitude and approaches teaching with discipline, fairness, and passion. He enjoys sparring and his favorite kick is the spinning hook kick. Master Pascal shares his passion of Taekwondo with his three daughters who are all high ranking black belts.

Master Robert Mirabella
Master Robert Mirabella is a chief instructor at our Tribeca and Staten Island locations. He hast rained under Grandmaster T. Kang since 1984 with over 30 years of teaching experience .

Master Joseph Franklin
Master Joseph Franklin began training in 1994 and now teaches under Senior Master Bill Ma in our Sheepshead Bay location. No matter where he teaches, the spirit of T. Kang Taekwondo is always with him. He believes Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit are words to live by.

Master Lisanne Jones-Sobers
Master Lisanne Jones-Sobers has 20 years of experience and is currently the Head Instructor at our Marine Park location. In 2017, Master Jones earned her sixth Degree Black Belt under Grandmaster Kang and received the title of “Master”. Master Jones actively competes in sport karate circuits including NASKA, KRANE, NY Tournaments and others. Master Jones was born in Brooklyn, NY and earned her B.S. in Business, Finance, and Management from Brooklyn College. She is currently married and has two children.

Master Samantha Kang
Samantha Kang has been an instructor at T. Kang Taekwondo since 2007. She is a 6th Dan black belt and has trained under Grandmaster Kang since she was a young child, carrying on the family tradition. She graduated from New York University in 2011 with a BA in Urban Design. As the head instructor of the Little Dragons and Junior Program at Tribeca, she loves helping children develop their life skills and confidence through Taekwondo.

Sahbumnim Mel Gutic
Sahbumnim Mel Gutic started his study of taekwondo 30 years ago in August of 1984 under Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang.
Sahbumnim Gutic feels extremely fortunate to have been trained by the entire Kang family including Great Grandmaster Suh Chong Kang and all three of his sons. He received his 5th Dan in 2012 and is currently Senior instructor at our Marine Park location.

Master Mark B. Jones, Ph.D.
Master Mark Jones has over 20 years of experience in martial arts, specializing in teaching college age students. He has brought the teachings of Grandmaster Kang’s traditional taekwondo with him to each institute throughout his academic training. A Pennsylvania native, Mark earned his BS and MSE in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Roswell Park Cancer Institute (University of Buffalo) in 2012. Following his postdoctoral training at Case Western Reserve University, he was a junior faculty member at Harvard Medical School. He currently works in the biotech sector in Cambridge, MA, and assists teaching Grandmaster’s virtual students attending class via Zoom.

Sahbumnim John C. Graves
Sahbumnim John C. Graves has nearly 20 years of experience in Taekwondo. He began with Grandmaster T. Kang in 2004, at the Tribeca school. In 2010, Sahbumnim joined Master David Tu in Canarsie. He soon became an assistant instructor and upon earning his Fifth Dan, was promoted to Senior Instructor. Sahbumnim Graves teaches the Saturday adult class and assists Master Tu with the Saturday teens. He is an attorney, teaching and specializing in sports law.
